The journeys have taken us to tell the tales to lands far and wide, and now ....we make landfall in Wilmington to tell them stories of me fellow pirates that sailed the Cape Fear region. Wilmington, North Carolina has a rich history and like many coastal towns, it has a connection to pirates. During the 18th century, piracy was a significant problem along the coast of North Carolina, and Wilmington was no exception.


Pirate Activity:  The inlets, islands, and treacherous waters of the North Carolina coast made it an attractive area for pirates to hide and prey on passing ships. Pirates would often use hidden coves and barrier islands to evade authorities

  

Legacy:  The history of piracy in Wilmington is remembered and celebrated today as part of the area's cultural heritage. You can find various events, museums, and historical sites related to piracy in the region.


While piracy was a significant issue in the early 18th century, it has long since disappeared from the waters of Wilmington, and the city has grown into a bustling modern port and a popular tourist destination with a rich maritime history
